Project Overview

Singapore’s First Commercial Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) Wind Turbine Installation at Infineon Singapore Using Warehouse Exhaust Airflow

Reliance Green Energy PTE LTD has completed a landmark commercial deployment of the Archimedes Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) vertical-axis wind turbine at Infineon Singapore. Presented as Singapore’s first commercial Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) wind turbine installation, this project demonstrates a new approach to renewable energy generation by using existing warehouse exhaust airflow as the energy source.

Instead of allowing high-volume exhaust air from the warehouse ventilation system to dissipate unused into the surrounding environment, the airflow is directed toward the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine to create rotational movement and generate electrical power. The project demonstrates how industrial and commercial facilities can potentially recover useful energy from continuous forced-air exhaust, alongside conventional renewable energy technologies such as solar power.

Project Highlights
  • ☞
Commercial Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) Installation: A Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) vertical-axis wind turbine has been installed at the Infineon Singapore facility as a commercial demonstration of forced-air wind energy recovery.
  • ☞
Warehouse Exhaust Airflow: The Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine is positioned to take advantage of the airflow created by the warehouse exhaust fan system, turning an existing ventilation airflow into a potential renewable energy source.
  • ☞
Continuous Airflow Energy Recovery: Unlike conventional wind applications that depend entirely on naturally occurring outdoor wind, this installation demonstrates the use of a controlled and continuously operating air stream powered by the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW).
  • ☞
Singapore Industrial Application: The project provides a practical example of how Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) technology can be considered for factories, warehouses, industrial buildings, ventilation systems and other facilities with significant exhaust airflow.

The Installation at Infineon Singapore

Turning Warehouse Exhaust Air Into Renewable Energy

The Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine is installed in the airflow path of a warehouse exhaust system at the Infineon Singapore facility. The warehouse exhaust fan continuously moves air out of the facility. As the exhaust airflow passes through the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) aerodynamic blades, it creates rotational movement around the vertical axis.

The Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine converts this mechanical rotation into electrical energy through its generator system.

Warehouse Exhaust Fan to Electricity Flow

The generated electrical power from the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) can then be integrated with the appropriate electrical system, controller or energy-storage configuration depending on the project design to seamlessly power Infineon's facility infrastructure.

This project demonstrates the concept of forced-air wind energy recovery using the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW), where existing mechanical ventilation infrastructure can provide the airflow required to operate a wind turbine.

How the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) Installation Works

  • ☞
Step 1 — Warehouse Exhaust: The warehouse ventilation system continuously removes air from the facility through an exhaust fan.
  • ☞
Step 2 — Airflow Creates Wind: The exhaust fan produces a directed airflow. Instead of allowing this airflow to disperse unused, the air stream is positioned to interact with the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine.
  • ☞
Step 3 — Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) Starts Rotating: The aerodynamic spiral blades capture the moving air and convert the airflow into rotational motion.
  • ☞
Step 4 — Generator Produces Electricity: The rotation of the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine drives the generator, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.
  • ☞
Step 5 — Renewable Energy Recovery: The generated electrical power from the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) can then be integrated with the appropriate electrical system, controller or energy-storage configuration depending on the project design.

Installation Intent & Positioning

  • ☞
Concrete block to sit on the floor.
  • ☞
Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine to face the exhaust direction based on airflow and site confirmation.

Project Engineering Concept

Recovering Energy From Existing Airflow

Commercial and industrial facilities use large ventilation and exhaust systems to maintain indoor air quality, temperature and operating conditions. These systems can move substantial volumes of air continuously.

The Infineon Singapore installation demonstrates an alternative approach: positioning a Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) turbine where suitable exhaust airflow is available and using that airflow as the driving force for the turbine. The concept is particularly relevant to facilities where exhaust fans operate for long periods and where the airflow characteristics are suitable for turbine operation.

Why This Project Matters

  • ☞
Converts Existing Airflow Into Useful Energy: The installation demonstrates the potential to recover energy from an airflow that would otherwise be discharged into the environment using the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW).
  • ☞
Designed for Urban & Industrial Environments: The Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) vertical-axis configuration is suited to applications where conventional large horizontal-axis wind turbines may not be practical.
  • ☞
Works With Forced-Air Applications: The Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) can be considered for suitable industrial exhaust ducts, ventilation systems, cooling systems and other engineered airflow sources.
  • ☞
Supports Commercial Sustainability Goals: Forced-air energy recovery via the Liam-F1 Model R-1600 (5kW) can complement solar power and other renewable-energy technologies as part of a broader commercial sustainability strategy.

From Exhaust Airflow to Clean Energy

A New Possibility for Industrial Facilities

The Infineon Singapore project demonstrates how renewable-energy technology can be integrated into existing industrial infrastructure. Rather than relying only on natural outdoor wind conditions, the system explores the use of engineered airflow generated by an existing exhaust system.

This creates an opportunity to investigate energy recovery from factories, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings and other sites where suitable continuous airflow is available.
